We strongly encourage the use of QR scan codes with all of our clients.  For an upcoming promotional rack card and flier, Sam’s Hair Salon of Atlanta has decided to use QR codes extensively to connect potential clients with social media accounts, Yelp reviews, and Google Maps.  One code will even dial the phone number for the salon when scanned.

Try scanning the codes for yourself and learn more about Sam’s.

BrandON! Announcements

Posted in BrandON! Firm Information, Client Announcements, Entrepreneurism, Helpful Insight, Marketing, Technology    |    2 Comments

Wow!  Talk about quick!

I am moving full steam ahead with the launch of RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology and have met with a great response!  First…a couple of announcements:

  1. Shira Miller Communications has offered and I have accepted the position of Project Manager.  My role in the near term will expand to act as a media contact for an on-going project and I will be highly involved in an upcoming campaign for the firm’s largest client.  The project is awaiting client funding approval but is expected to be okayed in the next few weeks.  I will be “on the ground” with Shira in Ohio handling a large PR push.  More to follow later.  I will also publish a link to the firm’s team page when I am added.  For now: www.shiramiller.com
  2. RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology has been engaged by another client: Marketing Performance Group in Columbia, SC.  I will be setting up a social media management platform for them and will be assisting in a new social media push by the firm.  More to follow later.  Link to their site: http://marketingperformance.net/
  3. Follow your passion…or ELSE! has been changed to a blog specifically for RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology that will provide advice and information about marketing technology topics.   Currently, RitchBrandon.com redirects to this blog.  That will change as soon as I launch a new site for  RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology.  I am also implementing WordPress so I plan to migrate the blog from Blogger to WP in the coming weeks.  More to follow.

Check out RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology‘s Twitter page: http://twitter.com/ritchbrandon

The number of followers of the firm’s tweets have topped 200 and are rapidly growing each day.  I’ve actually had to redirect messages from Twitter to a special folder in my in-box so I’m not swamped with them during the day.

Also, I have finished Principle 1 of Jack Canfield’s book The Success Principles.  The Principle is Take 100% Responsibility for your Life.  GREAT insights and a motivational kick in the ass.  I’ll post a review later.

Synthetic Turf Council announces winners from the Search for the Real Field of Dreams

Posted in Client Announcements, PR    |    No Comments

I am working this week on a PR campaign for the Synthetic Turf Council who has just named the winners of their Search for the Real Field of Dreams Contest.  The contest was to recognize new athletic facilities than incorporate synthetic turf and which have had a transformative effect on the community or the students of the facility’s school.  Some of the stories are amazing.

You probably remember the Kansas town that was wiped out in 2007 by a F5 tornado.  The town was Greensburg, KS with a population of 1,400.  Since then, the town has remade itself into a “Green” town — meaning they have put a HUGE effort into using completely sustainable and energy efficient products and processes while rebuilding the town.  I remember the news coverage seemed to focus on the town’s high school, which had been utterly wiped out.  The good news is that they now have a $50 million LEED Platinum certified school…including a new football stadium for which they won the STC’s grand prize.  It’s a neat story.

Freelance Journal Design and Layout Gig

Last year, I designed and laid out the journal Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina published by the South Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (SCACTE) and the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators (SCATE).  The editor, my good friend Dr. Chris Burkett, has again contacted me to handle the layout and design for this year’s issue.  It’s in progress now.  Gotta love repeat business!   Thanks, Chris!

Freelancing for Shira Miller Communications

Posted in Client Announcements, PR    |    2 Comments

Shria Miller is a good friend that I met when I began working at Morrison Management Specialists (then Morrison Healthcare) in 1996.  She and I bonded immediately when I found out that her family owns and operates Groucho’s Deli in Columbia.  Her dad became “Groucho” after her grandfather passed the business on to him and now her brother runs the business.  Her mom Faye is the quintessential Jewish mother who I absolutely adore!  Groucho’s is an institution that any USC student can tell you is THE place to get a great sandwich.  My favorite is and always will be the STP.  The proprietary “45″ sauce that comes with it is INCREDIBLE.  I thought one of the benefits of our friendship might be the recipe for the “45.”  It wasn’t.  I can buy it from Groucho’s like everyone else.  But I digress…

Shira was Director of Marketing Communications for Morrison prior to my joining the marketing team when I still worked for Wyatt Engwall — the absolute best boss and mentor I’ve had.  Since leaving Morrison in 1998, Shira has held high profile positions with several firms.  She launched SMC in 2001 and has been very successful.

I will be helping her on several fronts…but initially I’ll focus on social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with Shira!  She is highly respected PR and marketing consultant and, obviously, a very successful entrepreneur.  I can learn a lot!

Client Engagement – SMC

Just ended a conference call with my good friend Shira Miller. It was a conference call because we talked about business rather than “life.” Shira owns Shira Miller Communications, a PR and marketing firm, based here in Atlanta and she has just hired me as a part-time freelancer for her firm. I will be working about 10 hours a week with her and have already received my first assignments list. More on all of this later.
